NTUC Community Fund launched on 9 April, combining two existing charities into a single charity. The charities are the Bright Horizons Fund, which supports early childhood development, and the Health for Life Fund for senior care.

With plans to grow the fund from a $200 million base to a $500 million endowment within five years, approximately $12 million will be committed in 2026 across both child development and eldercare programs. The fund's growth will be driven mainly by businesses under NTUC Enterprise, the group's holding entity for its charities and other ventures.

Over the next three years, NTUC also plans to expand senior support from 2,000 to 3,000 people, alongside a separate expansion in child support from 7,000 to 10,000 annually.

For seniors, the fund covers financial assistance toward nursing home, day care, and home care costs for lower-income families, alongside programmes aimed at reducing social isolation. These include Walking Football, a low-impact activity for seniors with varying mobility, and Community Cafe, where seniors take on barista and service roles.

NTUC said it will work with NTUC Health, the fund's former administrator for senior care, to expand these models through partnerships with community organisations, social service agencies, and corporates.

NTUC cited Singapore's ageing population as context for the launch. The government's Population in Brief 2025 report found 20.7% of Singapore citizens were aged 65 and above as of June 2025, up from 13.1% a decade earlier, with the country expected to reach super-aged status this year and about one in four citizens aged 65 and above by 2030.

Ng Chee Meng said the fund reflects NTUC's commitment to supporting workers and their families, "Every Worker Matters, and that means their families matter too."
