Singapore's eldercare sector reached a milestone on 18 August, when Perennial Holdings opened the doors of Perennial Living, the nation's first private assisted living development. Located at 28 Parry Avenue, the residence spans 195,000 square feet. The development's first phase brings 200 assisted living apartments into operation, with a further 100 nursing beds in separate Nursing Suites now open for booking ahead of their planned commencement in the fourth quarter of 2026, under Phase 2.

**Residency, however, does not come cheap.**

The assisted living apartments, ranging from 302 to 569 square feet across four layouts, come with a basic monthly package of approximately S$8,000\. This package extends to accommodation, housekeeping, core meals, and the development's amenities and wellness programming.

Higher-need residents have the option of Nursing Suites, smaller at 212 to 374 square feet, starting somewhat lower, at approximately S$7,600 a month, with final rates shaped by size, layout, level, and facing. The Nursing Suites package adds round-the-clock nursing support, assistance with daily living, medication administration, and rehabilitation therapy.

At the heart of the development sits the Perennial Wellness Centre, an integrated medical facility bringing together general practitioners, medical specialists, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation and fitness services, and traditional Chinese medicine under one roof. Residents are entitled to twice-monthly consultations across Western medicine, rehabilitation, or TCM, alongside annual health screening, under an included care package.

As the country's ageing population drives rising demand for this kind of care, Dementia has been identified as a leading cause of nursing home admission in Singapore. At Perennial Living, two dedicated blocks and a portion of the nursing wing have been purpose-built for residents living with dementia, offering therapies that include music and multi-sensory stimulation, supported by recreated environments designed to encourage engagement and reminiscence.

**Perennial Living isn't entirely closed to non-residents.**

The Perennial Wellness Centre also operates as an outpatient facility open to the wider public, offering the same medical, imaging, rehabilitation, and TCM services available to residents. Come 1 September, The Olive — an all-day dining restaurant operated by Wilmar International — will open its doors to the public as well as residents.

Perennial Holdings Executive Chairman and CEO Pua Seck Guan described the ambition behind the project as building "a vibrant community where seniors can continue living with independence and purpose." It's a vision built on considerable scale as Perennial Holdings already operates around 30,000 beds across medical and eldercare facilities in 17 cities spanning China and Singapore, among them one of China's larger private eldercare platforms.
